Derica`s Restaurant
Derek, 23, and Erica, 27, brother and sister from Winnipeg, shared a dream that came to reality on November 1, 2022, as they proudly opened "Derica’s Restaurant" in the heart of Richer. With unwavering support from family and friends, their journey began with a shared passion for culinary arts and a desire to create a unique dining experience.
Derek`s culinary prowess was honed during nine summers at Hi Point Restaurant in West Hawk Lake, where he developed a love for crafting exquisite dishes. His dedication led him to the Louis Reil Arts and Technology Center (ATC) where he refined his skills in culinary arts. Notably, Derek`s talent extended beyond the kitchen; he represented Team Canada in team handball, allowing him to travel the world and proudly wave the Canadian flag.
Meanwhile, right out of high school, Erica pursued her culinary aspirations by enrolling in ATC, specializing in baking and pastry. She began her career at La Belle Baguette, a renowned local bakery, where she spent five years perfecting the art of creating delectable pastries. Seeking new challenges, Erica decided to make a change and relocated to West Hawk Lake and joined her brother at Hi Point Restaurant.
Despite the distance, Derek residing in Richer and Erica in Winnipeg, the siblings` bond and shared dream kept them connected. Their parents played a pivotal role; their father, a successful mortgage broker, provided financial guidance, while their semi-retired mother offers endless support.
As the doors of Derica’s Restaurant swung open, the fusion of Derek`s culinary expertise and Erica`s pastry mastery enchanted the palates of Richer`s residents. Inspired by their upbringing the Brunet siblings aim to create a warm and welcoming space for all to enjoy.
